California will always have a special place in my heart. Mainly because of the quality of the waves at some of the beaches. They just keep going, and going, and going and… you get the point.

One of the best breaks we surfed in California is definitely Rincon beach. It’s a very easy beach to access and the waves are so long that you actually have time to think about what’s going on, look around, enjoy the birds flying, walk up your board, turn around and watch the wave, sit and read a book, etc.

Compared to the North shore of the Dominican Republic this was a HUGE upgrade. To get waves like you get on a regular day in Rincon you would need to have the absolute perfect conditions in the DR and that happens about once a year. Don’t get me wrong, the waves are still nice on my home island but they just don’t compare to consistent, long, perfectly curling waves.
