Master of the Ocean is in a league of its own.
This isn’t your typical one-sport event. In order to dominate, competitors need to excel at not one, not two, not three, but all four water sports practiced here in cabarete.
Described as the Ironman of water sports, skills in windsurfing, kite boarding, surfing, and stand up paddle boarding are all pushed to their limits in the 5 day extravaganza under the gorgeous Dominican sun.
Battle of the Gods in Paradise.
In fact, this competition couldn’t happen anywhere else but in the DR, right here, in the place we currently call home, Cabarete.
Graced by the gods with almost constant swell, and almost constant wind, Cabarete is world renown for its amazing conditions, and attracts water sport enthusiasts from around the globe year round. But THIS is when all the magic really happens.
It’s in our Veins.
As travelers, it’s our duty to understand and partake in the local culture. This is why we’re so thrilled to have been included in the event this year as official spokespersons for the competition.
In cabarete, water sports are everything. The daily life of locals and tourists alike revolve around the seemingly unquenchable thirst shared by surfers, kiters, windsurfers, and SUPers alike to understand, overcome, and dominate the challenges unleashed by air and sea, wind and surf.
Losing sleep so you don’t have to
Each morning, over the next five days, we will duck dive into the mayhem and come up for a breath each evening to share with you the day’s excitement. At night, the thrills continue; Cabarete is, after all, just as renown for its nightlife as it is for its sportslife. Work hard. Play hard. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.
