For a long time coming now we’ve been planning a road trip around the island of the Dominican Republic. We’ve already had some incredible experiences in the small town of Cabarete but this island is just wayyyyy too big and diverse for us to stay put.
Our original plans were to do this trip by motorcycle but with the Dominican Republic having one the highest traffic mortality rates in the world we decided to do it by car, we have the whole rest of the world to see ya know!!
If you’re curious to know which way we’re heading, that would be East from Cabarete. We’ll be leaving early tomorrow so we can stop by a few surf breaks along the way and then we’ll stop in Las Terrenas. For the day not the trip! We’re going around the entire island remember!
Don’t worry about content as we made sure there will be plenty of awesome tips, stories and pictures for your viewing and reading pleasure while we’re away. If you want to follow our travels as they happen you can check us out on any of our social media networks since we’ll be updating those with pictures, updates and more.
If you’ve ever been to the Dominican Republic and have seen some epic stuff let us know where you saw it! We want to make sure we don’t miss out on the best of the best of this island. We might even be making a pit stop through Haiti but only time will tell what we do and where we go.
Anndd this post ends with an awesome part of a classic movie. Can you guess which one?
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”
“I don’t much care where –”
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”
Have a nice trip!!!!! Love Papy
Gracias!! =D
Have a good trip! If you are heading towards Las Terrenas you should check out both the new road (paid) and the old one between Las Terrenas and Samana. They are both really amazing for landscapes. The waterfall El Limon is cool as well. The road Cabarete – Moca – Santiago through the mountains is nice. It’s sad that you changed your mind about the motorcycle. I have done a 1,000km trip on my Yamaha FZ16 and it was a super experience! Especially with some of the curvy roads that go really high up in the mountains.
Thanks for the suggestions!!
We’ve done the Moca road a million times, it is really beautiful. We’ll have to look for the old road.
As for the motorcycle, it was a xmas present from us to our folks to do it by car this time… all 4 of them were sort of having a heart attack. We’ll save the motorcycle trip for another country with slightly safer roads ;) No doubt it would be absolutely stunning though. Anyway, with the surf board and rain and everything, it’s a bit more comfortable in the car.
We’ll keep you posted and thanks for the suggestions! Keep ’em comin’!
I wish you to find amazing site, beautifull people and fantastic experience to share with us later , kisses :)
Thanks very much!! And share we will ;)
Have a great trip. Look forward to learning more about Dominican Republic when you are done with the trip.
