Wallpaper Wednesday – June 19th – Flamboyant Canopy

Now officially moved to Wednesdays welcome back to our Photo of the Week! This shot was snapped on our latest trip to the capital Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We woke up with the sunrise and walked down a nice park which was lined with Flamboyant trees.

Most of the Flamboyant trees flower at the same time just like the Cherry Blossoms of Washington DC. It makes for some beautiful, movie-like scenery and a nice walk. After a while we stopped to sit on one of the benches when a local passed us and stated to his friend in Spanish that gringos from all over come to see these trees flower every year. Gringo meaning foreigner, but little did he know that I’m actually Dominican =)
