This week it’s Jade bringing you the Wallpaper Wednesday shot because Gabriel’s busy seeing his parents off in the capital.
This is an oldie but I think a goody, in more ways than one. I took this shot with my dad’s FILM Pentax.. yup, I said it, film! so you’ll notice it’s not quite the same ppi quality Gabriel usually uploads due to the fact that it’s a scanned negative.
This shot was taken at Chicago’s famous Navy Pier, and it’s particularly fitting to my mood at the time.. I was traveling the states alone, developing a sense of freedom and flight, but still very much feeling the loneliness that accompanies turning your life upside down, an experiencing this carnival we call life exactly the way I chose, but with no-one to share it with. Sweet and sour.

I can relate to this :) I’ve recently been blogging about separation: ‘… I adjusted to my temporary singledom; a dull ache, an empty hammock where he’d previously been sitting for weeks…’
Then I came across this Oscar Wilde quote, which seemed to resounded with many: “I think it’s very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not defined by another person” #oscarwilde
Yes Mia, I love that Oscar Wilde quote. I do believe it’s necessary as well, but at first the adjustment is uncomfortable. I will be writing a post later on the transitions of learning to be alone with yourself! Check back (or subscribe to our blog at the right) and let me know if you’ve experienced it in a similar way!!
