I’ve always found that when you work to get something the end result is better.
A couple of weeks ago we decided to hike up a hill in the outskirts of Ensenada, Mexico. Our plan was to make it to the top of the hill and spend the night in the wilderness with a new-found friend of ours.
After a couple challenging of hours of hiking this hill–which did not look anywhere near as steep, or wild as it actually was–we made it to the top. To our surprise though, there was a farm and not-so-friendly local owners. Apparently we were trespassing. So we excused ourselves and left to follow the road to another hill that had no one on it.
We sat, rested, and laid out our options. As we were no longer actually in wilderness but on someone else’s land, we decided to rest for a bit, but head home before the sun went down.
Before we left, I pulled out my camera, took a couple of shots of this beautiful landscape and proceeded to head down the hill, this time following the road.
I feel like if we had driven to the top of the hill this sunset would not have struck me as deep, but we worked, pretty hard, to get to the top so every second, every hill, and every color was greatly appreciated.
