This week we have another shot from the Ice Field Parkway. Yes this place is just that beautiful. I could probably pick out a few hand fulls of wallpapers just from this part of Canada alone.
We saw this glacier right where the Colombia Ice Field seems to end. Not knowing there was an actual parking center we ventured over a few rivers, around a lake and up the side of a mountain to get a better view of the glacier. A little over half way through our journey we realized there was a road that pretty much led to the base of the giant blue beauty.
At this point Jade proceeded down the mountain to get on eye level with big blue while I continued up to get a better angle. About twenty minutes later I start realizing something isn’t right. There’s snow sticking in a lot more areas than before and there’s a scent of danger in the air that wasn’t there before. As these thoughts come to mind I hear Jade yelling from the bottom of the mountain “You’re on top of the glacier”. Not a place I want to be, you know with hidden crevasses in which you will plummet to your, slow, freezing death, so I slowly and carefully backtracked to make my way to a safer vantage point.
Arriving at the bottom of the glacier you’re greeted with a massive slice of stunning shades of blue and frozen rivers leading away from the eye of the glacier.
This weeks wallpaper is only about a couple of feet of the entire glacier. We’ll post some of the full thing later =D. Stay tuned!
