30 Day Sunrise Challenge

When I first got to the Dominican Republic I made it a habit to wake up with the sun to go surfing. I used to work at a surf school which opened at 7am so getting up with the sun allowed me to get some surf time before heading into work.

When Jade and I met we used to do this together, but recently we’ve been slacking =X. About a week ago we decided it was time to get back into watching the sunrise everyday, to help us we started a 30 day sunrise challenge.
The challenge really has no end but we want to get at least thirty days in a row to start getting back into the early bird flow. After the thirty days are over we’ll still be waking up with the sunrise and getting shots but we’re allowed to miss a day every once in a while =).

The picture seen above is from this morning which marks day number six. If you want to follow the album and our progress you can check out our official Facebook Page or go straight to the 30 Day Sunrise Challenge Album and go from there.

If you’re looking to make the switch and start getting up early this is a perfect task to help you do so. Make it public as well so that you feel more obliged to actually get that shot in the morning. Also, it doesn’t have to be a sunrise challenge, maybe you just want to get some exercise in or just start the day with the sun. Whatever it is make sure it makes you feel good and give it a couple days to kick in as getting out of bed at 5:30 everyday can be taxing at the beginning.

Forming a habit only takes 21 days right? Well according to some research done on the subject a habit takes around two months to fully form, BUT this also depends on how motivated you are to form that habit and how good it makes you feel. In other words, love what you do, do what you love =).

For more details on forming habits check out Mind Tools article on the subject.
